Rainman Records - Cy Curnin

Imagine two men scuba diving deep in the sea. The first chases the fish, expending a great deal of energy while his oxygen tank quickly depletes. The other diver waits. In time the fish come to him. And he still has all the air he needs. Relating this story, Cy is likely to tell you that he has played all of the parts. The anxious diver. The fish. Even the air in the tank. Most recently, he has been the patient diver. No longer pursuing, he endeavors to live in the present moment. For Cy, his work with The Fixx over the past 25+ years remains an ongoing source of inspiration and accomplishment. He has learned a lot by working alongside his bandmates and the friendships he shares with each of them are cherished greatly. Through his solo projects, Cy has found the opportunity to express his personal thoughts, as well as varied musical perspectives. His first album, MAYFLY, released in 2005, had an experimental edge ; the songs were all written and produced during an extremely compressed period of time. Cy’s newest release, THE RETURNING SUN, is a collection of songs written during a tumultuous period a number of years ago. The album was co-produced by Doug Beck, known for his remix projects in NY. Doug contributed greatly to the record and his technical know-how in computer programming was used considerably. Cy feels that his eclectic nature comes forth in this record. Cy lives with his wife and their young daughter on a working farm. He has taken to the rural life and thrives while watching things grow. Cy also appreciates time spent with his two sons, who are grown up now and keep him on his toes. Cy is currently working with the Fixx on a new record, as well as more solo projects. He has reached a point that instead of hiding his limitations, he is now celebrating them.
